چکیده
Why are people surprised at racial bias feedback, such as test results from Implicit Association Tests (IATs), even though they can predict their IAT scores prospectively? The present research tested three hypotheses: People feedback due to (1) the wording, (2) implicit evaluations often being preconscious and unattended, or because (3) pretending be is socially desirable. One pilot, four preregistered studies, a mini-meta-analysis supported hypothesis (2): Although biases those reflected on observable, rarely pay attention them. Specifically, predicting (Studies 2-4b) encouragement one's biased reactions before completion (Study 3) reduced surprise, independent of explanation “implicit bias” 4b). Contradicting social-desirability (3), neither admit in form abstract predictions 3), nor non-threatening explanations 4b), surprise absence own biases. Speaking against (1), was severity 1–3); prediction effect mediated by recognition bias, but not correspondence 3). These studies suggest that consequence nature automatic social cognitions: may motivated keep consciously accessible out awareness. Implications for theories cognition generality these effects beyond discussed.

In this paper we re-visit the Matsui’s linear cryptanalysis. The linear attack on the full round DES was the first attack that has been verified experimentally. Matsui extended one-round linear approximations to a linear mask of plaintext-ciphertext pairs by means of his piling-up lemma. The assumption of the lemma, the independence of the random variables in the round approximations, is hopefu...

متن کاملInfants’ Selectively Pay Attention to the Information They Receive from a Native Speaker of Their Language
From the first moments of their life, infants show a preference for their native language, as well as toward speakers with whom they share the same language. This preference appears to have broad consequences in various domains later on, supporting group affiliations and collaborative actions in children. Here, we propose that infants' preference for native speakers of their language also serve...

Social phobia is maintained in part by judgmental biases concerning the probability and cost of negative social events. One hypothesized mechanism of action of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety disorders is its reduction in the exaggerated probabilities and costs associated with feared out‐ comes, termed the " cognitive mediation hypothesis " (Foa & Kozak, 1986). A number of studie...
